The Amazfit T-Rex smartwatches have won over many wearable enthusiasts. They offer great features and long-lasting batteries without the steep cost of high-end Garmin models.
While we tested an earlier version of the T-Rex 3, which was packed with improvements like a brighter screen, offline maps, and prolonged battery life, the sky’s the limit for the next generation.
And it’s time to talk about Amazfit T-Rex 4. It was one of the most anticipated rugged smartwatches and has fans around the world excited to know what Amazfit could do next.
Will the T-Rex 3 carve out a new standard in durability, fold in new features that change the game or simply shine a nice, new lacquer on what it’s already got going for it?
So, let’s get into what the expected release date is, some potential upgrades, and an overview of what we expect from this highly anticipated device.

- Amazfit T-Rex: January 8, 2020
- Amazfit T-Rex 2: May 2022
- Amazfit T-Rex 3: September 6, 2024
What you can see here is that Amazfit has held a pretty steady release schedule for the T-Rex line, releasing new models every year.
This pattern is reason enough to believe that the Amazfit T-Rex 4 will be released in 2025.
The exact release date has not yet been confirmed, but Amazfit fans can expect something next month.
Amazfit T-Rex 4 Features We Want to See
Each new generation of the Amazfit T-Rex series is raising the bar of what a rugged yet affordable smartwatch product line-up should offer.
The T-Rex 3 was a great persistence device with offline maps, dual band GPS and a 27 day battery, yet it wasn’t perfect.
In its next iteration, the Amazfit T-Rex 4 needs to address those limitations and inject some game changing upgrades in order to completely stand out. So what do we want the T-Rex 4 to do?
1. Ultimate Durability ——Sapphire Glass
Sadly, the T-Rex 3 doesn’t use Sapphire Glass, a popular feature of premium adventure watches such as the Fenix from Garmin. Instead, it uses Gorilla Glass, which is a decent scratch resistant material, but comes up short in comparison.
If you want a rugged display for your most extreme environment or just for something that’s going to last and not scratch, adding a Sapphire Glass lens to the T-Rex 4 would be a good choice.
2. More functionality, Integrated speaker.
It had a microphone, but no onboard speaker, limiting it for use. The T-Rex 4 could have audio feedback for navigation, more interaction with its AI assistant Zepp Flow as well as carry a speaker for call handling. If I build this small addition it can really help with convenience and versatility.
3. Routing and Navigation
The standout feature of the T-Rex 3’s routing system was offline maps with turn by turn navigation, but the lack of routable maps pared the device’s value.
Amazfit should introduce intelligent routing on the T-Rex 4, where users can set destinations directly on the watch to get real time guidance without using preloaded GPX files. The updated version would be equal to the competition on premium products.
4. Advanced Music Streaming Options
The T-Rex 3 only supports playing off of MP3s stored offline, which feels kind of old in a streaming world.
With integrations for Spotify or Amazon Music, the T-Rex 4 would become a more modernized and more appealing option for fitness folk and adventure folk that require music during their workouts.
5. Better Heart Rate Accuracy
The T-Rex 3’s heart rate monitoring is better than previous models, but it trails its competitors in certain uses, especially when working out hard.
With a more advanced sensor array and improved algorithms, a richer data set could allow users wanting their fitness and recovery metrics to have reliable data for the T-Rex 4.
6. Strava and Komoot Integration
For many of the users, loading GPX files manually on the T-Rex 3 is cumbersome. Integration with Strava, Komoot and other fitness platforms would create a smoother user experience for cyclists, runners and trail goers who rely on the devices’ small screens for GPS tracking and route planning.
7. In High Accuracy GPS Mode, longer battery life
Overall a highlight of the T-Rex 3’s battery life but unlike some competitors, the Fenix series has more in terms of battery life when using the GPS in higher accuracy mode.
To be a more reliable choice for the ultra-endurance athletes and adventurers, the T Rex 4 would need to extend GPS runtime at least or beyond 50 hours.
8. Expanded Smart Features
Smartwatches are starting to feature NFC payments and voice assistants. Besides the fact that the T-Rex 3 has Zepp Flow for voice commands, if you want more flexibility, you can add compatibility with Google Assistant or Alexa.
Not only would the T-Rex 4 be improved if smartwatch capabilities like notifications and app support were given a boost, but also that the T-Rex 4 is a completely different animal.
Amazfit T-Rex 4 Price (Expected)
- Amazfit T-Rex (2020): $140.
- Amazfit T-Rex 2 (2022): $200.
- Amazfit T-Rex 3 (2024): $299.
The next Amazfit T-Rex 4 could be priced around $300 to $350 which is usually expected with every new model to offer incremental enhancements.

This is all about the next generation upcoming T-Rex 4 for now. It’s too early for specifics, but we do know there’s a pretty good chance the T-Rex 4 is due in later this year.
