At CES 2025, Amazfit has officially unveiled its latest smartwatch, Amazfit Active 2.
The watch is built to work for fitness enthusiasts as well as casual users with its polished circular design, robust fitness features and advanced health-tracking functionality, all at $99.
We chip in on what makes the Active 2 such a compelling option in a crowded smartwatch market today.
A Fresh Design with Premium Build Options
The Amazfit Active 2 marks a significant departure from its predecessor, trading the rectangular design of the original Amazfit Active for a sleek circular form factor.
Its 1.32-inch AMOLED display boasts a high resolution of 466 x 466 pixels with a pixel density of 353 PPI, making visuals sharp and vibrant.
With an impressive 2,000 nits peak brightness, the screen ensures excellent visibility even in direct sunlight.
Two versions of the watch are available:
- The Standard model features 2.5D tempered glass with anti-fingerprint coating and a sporty silicone strap.
- The Premium version upgrades to durable sapphire glass and includes a black vegan leather strap, along with an additional red silicone strap for workouts.
Health and Fitness Tracking
Powered by Amazfit’s BioTracker 6.0 PPG sensor, the Active 2 offers highly precise health monitoring. Key features include:
- 24/7 heart rate monitoring with alerts for abnormal readings.
- SpO2 tracking for blood oxygen levels.
- Sleep analysis with advanced algorithms for improved accuracy.
- Stress level detection with guided breathing exercises for relaxation.
- Skin temperature measurement and readiness scores for comprehensive wellness insights.
The watch also supports menstrual cycle tracking, catering to a broader audience with its health-focused features.
Over 160 Sports Modes make sure it’s packed
It comes preloaded in 164 workout modes for fitness fanatics such as niche activities skiing, golf swing analysis, and stair Climbing.
Controlling the smart mode also allows strength training fanatics to detect automatically exercises and also count reps, sets and a rest period.
But advanced features such as a barometric altimeter and terrain maps, plus five satellite positioning systems for precision navigation, benefit the outdoor adventurer.
That turn by turn direction, either built in or via Bluetooth headphones, makes it great for trail runners and hikers.
Long-Lasting Battery Life
With the typical use case the 270mAh battery delivers 10 days battery life. Using the watch even under heavy use, the battery can even last up to 5 days before it runs out or in about 21 hours while in continuous GPS use.
The longevity guarantees the watch doesn’t have to be recharged as often as you stay active.
Smartwatch Features
Beyond fitness tracking, the Amazfit Active 2 includes several smartwatch essentials:
- NFC for contactless payments (currently supported in select regions like Europe).
- Bluetooth 5.2 for seamless connectivity to phones and external sensors such as heart rate monitors and power meters.
- Offline map downloads for exploring trails without relying on a phone.
- Voice assistant support via a built-in microphone.
Though a bit pricey compared to other watches on the market, this watch beats out the higher-end models with state-of-the-art features similar to devices like the Amazfit T-Rex 3.
